A comprehensive guide on pixel pitch, brightness, and modular sizes to make your next expo booth stand out.
1. Understanding Pixel Pitch
Pixel pitch is the distance between the center of an LED pixel and the center of the adjacent pixel. For trade shows where attendees are walking right past your booth, you need a fine pixel pitch—typically between 1.5mm and 2.5mm. Anything higher (like 3.9mm or 4.8mm) is better suited for stage backdrops where the audience is further away.
2. Brightness vs. Contrast
Most convention centers (like the Metro Toronto Convention Centre or Vancouver Convention Centre) have very bright overhead lighting. Your LED display needs to cut through this ambient light. We recommend a minimum of 1000 nits for indoor displays. Additionally, look for panels with black-face LEDs, which provide much deeper contrast than standard LEDs.
3. Modular Flexibility
Trade show booth sizes change from event to event. Investing in or renting a modular LED system means you can build a 10x10 backdrop for one show, and reconfigure the exact same panels into two towering 3-foot wide totems for a different event.
